I’m often asked, should I invest in a traditional rental or an Airbnb??

Want to know what I do?

I invest in both!

Here is my strategy! We own both long term and short term rentals. Because I make between 2 to 3 times more in Airbnb than I do traditional rentals I use the profit that I make in Airbnb’s to fuel my long term rental investments.

Let me break it down for you.

  • I average about $35,000 per year on each Airbnb.

  • $20,000 of the $35k is a down payment to one of my long term rentals for $100,000.

With this strategy I’m able to multiply my profits and keep my cash in the bank. Even though I have to pay utilities on my short term rentals typically my repair costs are pretty low because people are coming and going so much my homes are kept in much better condition than the long term rentals.
