When it comes to real estate, there’s so much information available these days! It’s great that we can use books, podcasts, blogs, YouTube, Facebook groups, and more to start our investing journey!

But the other side of that brings information overload and analysis paralysis. It can be hard to tune out the noise, especially from the news or social media, when you’re not sure if investing is for you, or how you can start or scale.

This is why with my new email series, Trending Tuesdays, I’m going to cover recent news in real estate! My hope is that I can provide some clarity on what exactly is going on in the market and what that means for you.

Recently, I found a trending topic that I was so excited to see! According to Bigger Pockets, single women are buying more homes than ever before compared to single men!!!

This is awesome because it shows that women aren’t waiting for anyone to start taking control of their financial future!! What’s also important about this news is that this can help to erode the gender wealth gap, using real estate as a tool to do it!

The article goes on to explain how 92% of women agree that buying a home is a great accomplishment and 87% believe they don’t need to be married to pursue homeownership!!

Unfortunately, women are still dealing with certain hurdles that men aren’t. One of the biggest challenges is confidence. According to the article, 63% of women say they don’t know how to start the home buying process, and 55% say they don’t know anyone who can help them.

This is why I’m so passionate about mentorship and community!! When we have fear about something, it’s either due to a lack of knowledge or experience, or both.

In my cohort, we talk about the importance of having a mentor and a community who can help you build that knowledge and push you to get that experience. And that’s when you’ll see your confidence start to rise!!

The issue with confidence is also partly due to a financial literacy gap. Even though traditionally, men often make financial decisions for the household, more women are starting to take on that role!!

Though women may have more self-doubt, they’ve proven to be better at investing and save a higher percentage of their earnings than men!! Being diligent and consistent with managing their finances gives women the foundation to be successful real estate investors!!

Another thing…women tend to be more risk-averse than men when it comes to making financial decisions. The best way to deal with that is to diversify your investments! Real estate is a great way to do that! There’s plenty of strategies to try. And with a diversified portfolio, even during market downturns, real estate holds steady and continues to appreciate!!

I’m so excited that the perception of women in real estate is changing!! As a single or married woman, if you’re looking for a place to start, I highly recommend the InvestHer community, where you can learn from other women real estate investors! I went to InvestHer con in June, and it was an amazing experience!
