On 4th of July weekend, we hear a lot about this country’s independence. But being born and raised in Texas, I’m always going to celebrate the legacy of my ancestors first and foremost! And if there’s one thing I know about my ancestors, is that they dreamt of freedom.
I shared on Juneteenth how my four times great grandfather David Medlock helped to establish a town after he was emancipated. This was his vision of freedom. To create a town with other newly freed people that included a school and a church.
So, have you stopped to think what freedom looks like for you?
…Maybe freedom means, instead of waking up to an alarm every day, you can wake up in prayer.
…Maybe it looks like spending more time with your family and traveling the world together.
…Or maybe it’s getting lost in time doing the things you love to do, like reading or hiking.
For many of the people that I work with, freedom means having options. To do the things I mentioned and so much more! Which is why they want to use real estate investing to help them get there.
Like Andy Mineo. Andy has the freedom to say no to things he doesn’t want to do. He has another income stream so he doesn’t have to rely only on doing music. And he’s making sure that his family is taken care of through passive income.
And there’s my friend, Chastie Lindsay. Chastie is a retired teacher who now has the freedom to decide what her schedule looks like. She spends her days managing her businesses, including 4 food trucks, 1 restaurant, and 3 airbnbs!
For Marchet Sparks, investing in real estate gave her the financial security she needed to take a risk, and pursue her dream of owning a restaurant! Though she’s not in the restaurant business anymore, she now has financial freedom to do the things she loves, like gardening, traveling with her husband, and making candles, which she turned into another income stream.
So as you can see, freedom can be whatever you want it to be! If you haven’t, I hope you’ll take some time to write down your idea of freedom. Just like Andy, Chastie, and Marchet, you can design a life of freedom on your own terms.
